What is Living History?

What exactly is “Living History”?

Living History in its literal sense brings history to life and allows both the reenactors and the audience to get an insight to a certain extent what it was like to live in the portrayed period of time. It is literally tangible and touchable history.

In order to live up to the challenges of Living History the Hetairoi members try to fabricate clothing and armour from the original materials as verified by archeological findings and which is in line with authentic historical patterns.

Through camp sessions and participation in certain events we achieve the setting to make the portray of ancient history conclusive and comprehensive.

Apart from individual enjoyment and success authenticity is important. Living History can be quite a demanding hobby

Another objective is education of the public. Therefore, the Hetairoi members are available for visiting schools, universities and museums. They are also prepared to attend at open day-events or opening sessions of museums and exhibitions.
