After Athineos has worked on his Apis for some time now, he finally completed the last step of the remodeling: a complete brass cover for the shield front.
At first Athineos tried to hammer and shape the cover himself from a flat brass sheet. Although he made good progress with it, the efforts proved to be too much.
That's why a friend, who is a blacksmith was tasked with the completion of the cover. The result can be seen below. The metal rim is constructed from multiple pieces, which is a type of construction known from Etruscan Aspides. If anybody has a picture or source for a Classical Greek Aspis constructed from multiple pieces, we would be very grateful for hints.
