Again I stumbled across the recording of an interesting university lesson online. The topic this time is Ancient Greek Technology and Astrology. The lesson was held by Dr Amelia Brown from the University of Queensland on March 13, 2012. Here's the link.

Greek mythologyisn't usually known for its' prudery. The ancient heroes and especially the gods had many affairs, if the ancient historians are to be believed. Arguably the busiest of all gods in that regard was Zeus, the father of the gods, himself. He fathered many children, with whom he sometimes had an own affair later on.

Because you can easily get lost in all the stories, somebody published a nice infographic showing all of Zeus' affairs according to historic sources.

Update: It is official. The city council in Herbertingen has decided to close the museum.

After Athineos has worked on his Apis for some time now, he finally completed the last step of the remodeling: a complete brass cover for the shield front.

At first Athineos tried to hammer and shape the cover himself from a flat brass sheet. Although he made good progress with it, the efforts proved to be too much.

I have to add a short notice to my recent post about historic paint. The original article states that the paint with egg tempera doesn't work on the copper sheet. However, after the paint had several weeks to dry, it instead sticks excellently to the sheet. I couldn't remove it by rubbing or scratching any more.
