(Update) Museum Heuneburg will be closed

Update: It is official. The city council in Herbertingen has decided to close the museum.

In the last days, various sources have written about a possible upcoming closure of the museum Heuneburg. The state Baden-Württemberg decided a few years ago that it would not provide financial aid for the regular operation of the museum. Due to this decision, the small town of Herbertingen has to provide all money for the operation. In the last years, the town had to cover losses of around 150.000 Euros per year, which is why the town council will be deciding about a possible closure of the museum today. If the decision is made, it would not affect the archeological work, the regular museum in Hundersingen, or individual projects like the recently announced reconstruction of the city gate.

The Hetairoi cooperated with the Heuneburg many times over the last years. We all hope the state and the town find a way to further provide the public with the opportunity to visit the great reconstructions on the site.
